Cinematic and spectral, Odessa Chen’s music is a journey, intimate as a long held secret. Each song, like a tiny rowboat maneuvering in the dark, transports us to the deepest part of the lake where the stars shine brightest.

Art Rock, Ethereal Wave, and Americana are interwoven in songs which reach from the autobiographical towards the universal. Traveling through despair and betrayal towards transcendence, through stark winters to hazy summers, each haunting memory and snapshot in time speaks of the romance of heightened experiences, pivotal moments, and the rush of love.

Odessa engineered, produced, arranged, and played most of the instruments on her forthcoming album which was mixed by Grammy winning producer/engineer Joe Chiccarelli (U2, Morrissey, White Stripes). Her most forceful album to date, The Mysteries is a harrowing and cinematic exploration of the unknown. The mysteries of personal relationships—betrayal, regret (Runaway Train), and transformative love, the mysteries of aging & death (These Bones), and the mysteries of nature (O The Sea).
